Well, they are here: Intel Based Apple Laptops.
They feature:
- Intel Core Duo (Dual Core CPUs)
- 667MHz frontside bus
- Serial ATA hard drive
- SuperDrive (DVD±RW/CD-RW)
- Built-in iSight Camera
- Cool looking MagSafe power connector
- The same stupid piece of sh*t one button track pad
Oh yeah, and a price only a Mac fan could love. Me wantee, but me not wantee that bad for Apple first gen hardware.
Yea, $2k is way out of reach for a laptop – especially for me.
I drop them.
My $900 refurb powerbook has been dropped on concrete 3 times. And it hurts my brain the millisecond before it hits ground.
$2k would hurt my brain more.
I’d pay $2k for a tower – my work machine – my production machine. Towers need balls to run FCP, Motion, and other production apps.
But laptops are for websurfing, iPod synching, emailing, (and… sadly, dropping.) The cheaper the better in my world. Well, not so cheap that it’s a PC.
I’m hoping the Intel transition is smooth. Another revision, and price drop, and I’ll be on that bandwagon.
It’s weird, all the rumour sites were predicting the Intels would be in the new mini. I was so convinced, it’s hard to believe the mini’s are not Intel yet.
RTTD! Kate
