That’s funny — I didn’t bother to read that article after seeing the headline because I had the same thought.
And then you have idiots like me who get a new laptop and try for thirty minutes to get the wireless connection to work before remembering that only specified MAC addresses can use my network. If only the memory portion of my brain worked as well as the anal retentive portion . . .
I like piggybacking off of wireless networks. Is that bad?
i wish i knew how to secure mine. i keep getting this warning symbol that says that I have a conflicting IP address on my network … and I don’t know how to make a password for my wireless, and I think I would have to call Netgear and pay $25 and 17 hours of my life in order to work it out. Damn.
Yeah, unless you have a mac address that matches my tivo, my powerbook, or my G5, my router won’t give up the goodness anyway. A much nicer alternative to slowing up transmission with encryption. Or is that slowing down.
